It is all wired in us.

Have you ever fallen in love and felt obsessed with your lover? Studies now show that people in the early stages of love have lower levels of serotonin (associated with happiness and well-being) and higher levels of cortisol (associated with stress). Interestingly this is very similar to those who have Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and it explains why we act out of character when we fall for someone. (Courtesy of http://positiveoutlookquotes.com ) A case at hand is like when you get mad at someone that you have fallen for, for many a reason perhaps? They socialize too much, they give you less attention…A dangerous playing- field you are trending here. Remember a healthy relationship should give space, time and understanding. A bit of misunderstanding here an there, ups and downs. Everything that involves healthy. ( That's a story for another day ) That tag in your chest, that pang in your heart that  threatens to explode it into a myriad of smithereens. Cortisol my ...

Will. The easiest yet the toughest choice one can make.

Somewhere in the midst of all that confusion, their is hope, and then there is WILL. Somewhere in our day to day life, nestled in one of the most powerful graces mankind has ever owned, is a profound thing called will. The oxford describes it as “control deliberately exerted to do something or to restrain one's own impulses.” For as long as we can remember, will has been a part of our lives, well, to be precise, when we came to our senses at a very tender age.    Will, pronounced as /wil/ , with a clear depiction from The Holy book, the Bible, brings out itself as a punishment given forth to man when he sinned in the proverbial place of perfectness, The Garden of Eden. Back in the years, I attended a mission school adjacent to a crumbling church in a small forgotten town located in the heart of the rich Tea highlands of Western Kenya. A distance away was the massive River Nyanderema; a massive piece of nature  flowing tenaciously to the famous Ewaso. As...

The year Existing.

Live life today, tomorrow is not assured of. A bet, maybe late, perchance hate so to say, When you promise to let, No feelings nor judgement, make your life pain, Give it a try, a swing from mood to smile... Today perhaps, lighten a cloudy theme, Bitter is so awkward, A cruel way to say life is hard, How about you let go and let in joy. Daily stresses of life, Haunting sleepless nights, A turn here, a toss till morning light, Decide today to live on heights, walk your talk and and brush the chalk, Life, they say is a block, Tall, rising and threatening, a weak bloke, will choke and resign, To fate and to the pains. Signing up and out is not far fetched, Today and tomorrow is not promised, To be here to speak of this and anything valid, But a writing will forever remain, Read, learn and always appreciate, For all that comes with it is a blessing. Happy October people! Loughran.

A blend of what life can give us.

Rapturous joy, belittling challenges, confusing emotions.... say it all. A pot with a myriad of content, that is what life is for sure. All that I have learnt; too many yet too little to tell, one that has stood out "stoically" is that the "Love of God is pure when joy and suffering inspire an equal degree of gratitude. -- Simone Weil"   So to coin a little script, Believe has never been easy, with every bit of passing gray, A mountain, a backdrop, A life's loop, How mysterious is every breath, with death's last sad as wreath, Say gratitude with every awakening.  Let you God be your guard. We sojourn earth with no reckon, as mother nature slowly beckons, Tears, joy, laughter, pain and gain, all is a tale smooth like the loin, Live today, cherish tomorrow, Least the devil forcibly makes a borrow,  It's pale, yet a future stands on a hollow. Forever, try and be glad, Smile and give a shoulder, someday you will ne...

Walking the Talk.

So when it comes to mending tears and walking talks, the real task takes shape. How about fulfilling your day with a nice word to your friend, neighbor or even to yourself? Courage to transform dreams into reality and a bit of self-esteem to tell yourself that you are going to make it! Here is a bit of what I always say to myself when I am up to a task, "Make it work! Make it work oy oy oy"! Regardless of the rumbling feel in your stomach and that quick-to-notice anxious face, you going to make it. Someone once said, " If someone offers you a wonderful opportunity, and you don't have the slightest inkling on how to go about it, TAKE IT!!, then learn how to do it later!!" As you make your daily living this August, take a step and be kind. Forgive when wronged ,  apologize when in fault, smile because you never know, you might have just made someone's day. Lend a hand and don't forget to love yourself, you are the source and with it comes great fruit....

Manning Up Craze. Where many go wrong.

There is a misconception that we as humans, make when getting into relationships; mutual or not. We all think it’s all about a bed of roses, bright alleys filled with cupid’s melodies and the weirdest of all, and a 24hr love merry-go-round with no conundrums. Well, that’s a myth, viable only in dreamland. A closer examination to what these unions really mean, impact and affect human life is outrageously immense. Over time, thousands of literal heads, think-tanks, and even those without the slightest inkling of what relationships are, have contributed into this complex realm. I call it so, because it is a daunting task to define what it really is.  Everyone is entitled to their own personal view, I too have mine, and if it comes out odd and obnoxious, well, it’s my opinion. I am simply having my cake, and sharing it. From time immemorial, the world has brandished the human male species as a tough lot. To break it down, we live and grow in societies that expect man to man-up ...
