Goodbye The Month of May.

The month of may has come and gone so fast, with it are many things too. Yet the thirty one days remains a mystery to many of us who go through countless events and occasions that takes place during this period. There is an African story about this month that is "affectionately-nostalgic" that used to cap this wonderful month. It's quite a long one, Read it here: African Story about May. As as we bade it farewell, I would love to share quite some normal but amazing facts about this month. Apart from it being one of the cutest Julian or Gregorian months of the year, quite a large number of people celebrate their birthdays during this month. May is a month of autumn in the Southern Hemisphere and spring in the Northern Hemisphere (summer in Europe). Therefore May in the Southern Hemisphere is the seasonal equivalent of November in the Northern Hemisphere and vice versa. Factually, No other month begins or ends on the same day of the week as May in any year. This...

The Greatest Gift.

Sharing is a word, that few understand. The Oxford simply explains sharing as " have a portion of (something) with another or others"  It goes forward to say sharing is "use, occupy, or enjoy (something) jointly with another or others." That greatest gift is the Joy of a gift shared; That giving of ourselves, Our time, Our encouragement, Our resourcefulness. That greatest gift is the giving Of ourselves to a worthy other, So that special one can enhance The value and number of his or her Gifts to the world. So let us give and spread Our love and joy by giving through The gift of ourselves to another; Let us be blessed by the satisfaction Of giving so that we can receive The greater gift of renewed fortune To give once more of ourselves. Cheers friends.  Loughran

What a broken heart means.

Relationships are bound to happen, they evolve over time and a sure bet, in a great way changes us. Human beings are social creatures; leave alone the hellos and howdy’, but we have been molded with feelings and will. We meet people, become friends with others, fiends with some and a few lucky lot get the chance to be ‘special’. This specialty has been misused to a great extent, willingly at that. It takes a lot of strength to commit; trust is earned, respect goes down the same lane. But like many deals, risks are involved, it is a trade. Love for respect, commitment for love and respect for love; a two way traffic to be close, a cycle to be precise. One cannot survive without the other. Primitive, huh? Regardless of all risks involved, we still find ourselves in the middle of these ‘far-knit-unions’. Hurting day in day out, and always heart-broken. Don’t we learn? It’s fairly true to say choices are there for us to make, regardless of every situation but we still fall prey ...

The man in the mirror.

Everyone'( in this context) most people have certain expectations about themselves. Be it socially, economically and almost everything that encompasses our lives. Well, my friend Bill walked to me the other day and asked me a rather haunting question that left me desiring a lot about myself. “Gerry, have you ever expected good from doing good to someone?” I was dumbfounded, I answered yes but in the converse, something inside me was burning. I out rightly knew that was not the case. Each and every day, we wake up thinking a new day is here. Many know what they are going to face during the day. At least some, have an idea and a few don’t even have a clue of any upcoming activities. Yet with every movement or contact we make to the outside world, there is a kind of ‘Selfishness’ to it. We often think of what good we are going to get out of what we are doing. Here for the month of May. It might be daunting to accomplish the desires of our hearts, but it worth double to ...

My beautiful one was waiting.

Drumming my slender fingers on the cashier counter, I was unconsciously producing a rhythm, each beat rushing after another, pressing and hastening. Staring at the middle-aged cashier with the glamorous gift in one hand and a piece of pink wrapping paper in another, I could not help but sigh. I could feel the look of people tired of the long queue burning the back of my neck. I should have just bought the teddy bear and wrapped it myself. With a fluffy thing like that, any girl would not mind a wrapper’s clumsy state. I felt in my pockets for my car-keys, then quickly picked up the present and settled it on the backseat. In no time, I was making a cute ten mileage on my speedometer on the busy Nakuru-Nairobi highway. A thousand bucks, thirty minutes of wrapping and probably my late arrival were the price of my weekend fling with my beautiful dear one - I ran through all those details in my head. It had been a long day. Driving mechanically, imagining her beaming smile while fat...
