The Wake of Past-times.

Perhaps, the greatest thing life’s got to offer is lessons. A pause to think, all things good and bad are constant. Its either one or the other; no middle ground. But, the lessons gleaned from each relies on how much one takes into consideration. Just the thought of it matters. There are people in this world, whose main aim is to muddy the waters of settled seas. One can imagine, why don’t they just take a swim, rinse off and feel the bliss of cooling off; why make the lives of others miserable? To this end, I have never gotten an answer. A beautiful flower that blossoms on the side of the road face the wrath of decrepit passersby. You have to have a strong will to survive the waves of the current world; where friends are willing to buy you an expensive bottle of booze but hesitate when it comes to contributing to some good cause. One has seen people who feel so bad when they see others prosper. Shreds of sly hatred that poison the well of love. It is said, to "look with the eyes ...

Coming Home to Roost.

Where light first shone, To thine eyes when I made the first squeak. The first whimper,  that sharp cry, piercing the silent dusk, when birds flew home to nest, And the goats and cows trudged back to their pens, The distant sounds of the local mill,  The heartful moos of the calves calling for their mothers Ooh, the sounds of a time long gone. Little thine spirit, how life seeped into my new form, To the beguiling chants of the womenfolk... Bubbling with joy, the silent whispers of prayer, And the welcoming of a new born into the world. The day, thine tiny hands held onto new fold, The start of a ticking time pouring in to a sum of old, Those black tiny eyes, staring at a vast  expanse, New and fresh to every feel,  Then a squeak, a cough and a shrill cry marking a grand entry. Our birth relieves sleep forgotten: The Soul that rises with us, our Life's guide, Hath had elsewhere its setting, And cometh from afar: Not in entire heedlessness, And not in utter bareness, ...

The Path of partnered joy.

If you ever want to appreciate the joys of living a rather calm way of life, then in all that comes with and for it, be truthful to yourself.       We walk many paths with all the niceties, soft grounds, but amidst them are uncertainties and thorns. Be it tangible, good, bad or otherwise, they all count to as a means to an end. Quantum physics explains what has been used as a brilliant metaphor albeit as a literary perfection using the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle; “You can never simultaneously know the exact position and the exact speed of an object’. Uncertainty is often explained as a result of measurement, that the act of measuring an object, changes its speed or vice versa; the real origin is much deeper and intriguing.      “Joy and woe are woven fine.” William Blake’s line from the poem “ Auguries of Innocence ” elegantly and simply nibbles from the same kernel of wisdom. For what better way to put it but call i...

Merci beaucoup.

We hold onto so much, that we at times forget to live and let love, we abandon our true selves, to accommodate the pressures of the world, we forget that there is joy in letting life and living in the moment.  The treasure we seek, the one that we’ve been made to believe it exists, requires no lengthy expedition, not does it demand expensive equipment. It doesn’t need superior aptitude or special company; all we lack is the willingness to accept and to imagine that we already have everything we need. The truth: The only thing missing is our consent to be where we are. To live in the moment. He hasn’t felt settled in a long while. The few days leading to this post were filled with fresh thrill; the urge to pursue; he’d forgotten how it felt to look for something, perhaps because he’d closed down all doors and windows and had denied himself a fresh touch of warm sunshine. No one understands nature: a tree bathed in sun rays, a weathered tree trunk, maybe the animals, a mountain perha...

The Broken Road.

Life’s trying to re-channel all the conscious feeling he’s had over the years. Smoky fire is crackling on the fireplace; the chimney is still leaking, but the cold was too much. Today he should be celebrating a special day, but the country is locked down, just like his life has been over the past few years. He fidgets when he remembers the happenings of the past four months. Things he never anticipated to happen to him, were hitting him, one after the other like a full-blown tornado. His dexterity in making others feel at home had failed him. He might have pushed too hard, and now he cringes as thoughts recanted themselves over and over in his mind.  Home is where the heart is, but for him, this was not the case. A hollow void visibly hangs over his usual bubbly self. A face keeps popping up in his mind, he can’t shake it off. He is going through a distant but a familiar phase. “It’s all going to be okay,” he reassured himself with a sigh. His shoulders remained drooped, the burden...

He Remembers.

He’d write you this letter, but he knows, the good ol’ days are gone. blame the vagaries of life. The bits that used to make your heart fluster; the butterflies in your stomach? This are words, poured into this piece, to remember a graceful person, to honor a time that made his world a place to relish. Truth be said, weathering this time is daunting and he got no idea how it is going to be. He’s held onto hope; he knows too well of it’s tingling taste in his mouth. He’s beheld countless nights of little to no sleep and unsettled sighs and heaves, oh the world that was! The song titled For You by John Denver bellows through the dark headphones tightly holding his sanity together, He can’t help but feel every second and minute pass by so slowly. That is a song he would be singing in the shower with an upbeat mood, relishing the gifts of life. It’s a heavy one this bit, He doesn’t know if his shoulders can hold onto the weight really. He is scared, not that the world’s turned colder...

Mind Games.

23 days into the fresh year; a cocktail of happenings; and frankly enough, it is a year that has managed to pull a couple of rabbits out of the hat; as young as it is. Never saw that coming. The blandness of conniving thieves and a bunch of miscreants out there always scheming to rob hardworking people of their hard earned toil.  Life's a move though. Each step takes us closer to an achievement. When words are done to bespoke; an analogy of statements done with wit the intricacy of a braid so to say.  So here goes … Past situations put in words, but then, being in a dull state of nerves, such as everybody is occasionally predisposed to: insusceptible to delight or pleasurable excitement; one of those temperaments when what is pleasure in most times and to many a person, becomes insipid or indifferent… In this frame of mind, it befell on me to pose the question unto myself, ‘Suppose that all your needs a...
